AU Tax Accountant
Position Overview
RecruitGo is looking for looking for a Compliance Accountant Advisor who will be primary responsible for the Initial [First Level]: Review of Team - Client Work before proceeding to Director’s Review. This Role involves preparing Review Points - Addressing these Points with Team Members as needed and ensuring Adherence to Engagement Control Register [ECR] - including Budget Management. The CAA plays a crucial role in streamlining Efficiencies and Processes involved in the Review: Process to maintain High Standards of Compliance and Quality. Additionally - by addressing Review Points - the CAA ensures effective Coaching and Training of Team Members - enabling ongoing Learning - Development and Retention - thereby increasing Team Member’s Skillset and Value within the Firm.
Responsibilities:
- Review - Approve designated Financial Statements - Income Tax Returns and SMSF prepared.
- Ability to Review Groups for problems with Division 7A Loan Account Issues - Trust Losses and other Tax Issues that may arise.
- Review Client Group Structures to ensure best possible Position - including consideration of Estate Planning and Asset Protection Issues.
- Review Client GST Accounting for correct Recording etc.
- Analyse and Review Client Tax Returns with Queries brought forward to the relevant Director.
- Review of Client Accounts and Drafting of Letters to raise Issues for Consideration as required from time to time.
- Review Division: Director Workflow Allocation.
- Review Client Groups to identify any Risks in relation to Non Compliance with Taxation Laws - including Development of Plan to rectify Issues identified.
- Independently resolve Queries and provide a Summary to the relevant Director.
- Confident to be Client Facing as required
- Ability to assist Directors with providing Advice such as Tax Planning and Business Re-Structuring.
- Embraces an Environment that facilitates ability to Guide and Mentor the team - whilst providing a base to Manage - along with Client Relationships.
- Awareness of the Lodgement Program and assist All Lodgement Deadlines are Met and Client Expectations are Managed.
- Manage Portfolio of Client: Reviews [As Director: Delegated] and ensure All Deadlines are Met.
- Liaise relevant Director prior to Review: Commencement to ascertain Key: Review Risks to enable Focus on effective Review within Budget.
- Liaise with Job Manager - Director regarding Queries to enable Follow-Up Clients.
- Advise Job Manager - Director regarding ATO: Issues to enable Job Manager liaison with ATO
- Various Daily Sales admin tasks : Petty cash management, task management, Reimbursement Management, Invoice management, Drafting of Service Agreements, MoMs and other tasks.
- Provide Managing Director any Recommendations for Improvement of Business Systems and Reporting Methods.
- Proactive with Business Development.
- Reporting any Concerns related to team Performance to Managing Director ie. Learning Retention - Error Repetition - Excessive Write-Offs and Any Other Performance-Related Matters requiring Attention or Intervention.
Requirements:
- Australian Tax Experience Necessary
- 10+ Years Accounting Firm
- 3 Years Manager
- Bachelor Degree Accounting [Related Field]
- Master Tax [Desirable]
- Confident with All Technical Tax Issues including Div7a - CGT & FBT. Level of Knowledge in these Areas is developed to a Level whereby able to provide Risk and Compliance Advice to Directors [As Required].
- Extensive Knowledge of Accounting - Tax and related Business Trends.
- Ability to Review and provide Feedback on Work prepared by the team in a Constructive and Professional Manner.
- Ability to establish a Rapport and effective Communication with Clientele.
- Ability to Gather - Organise and Summarise Information Efficiently and Effectively .
- Comprehensive Understanding of Prioritisation Methodology.
- Strict Adherence to provided Budgets and Timeliness of Reviews in accordance with Priorities.
- Risk-Based Approach to Identify At Risk Clients including ongoing Monitoring and Reporting [As Required].
- Periodic Review of ATO: Debtor Ledger utilising Client IP to determine ATO: Client Accounts for further Investigation and Review.
- Technically proficient with MYOB - XERO.
- Manages Own Time and the Time of Others.
- Demonstrates Excellent Verbal and Written Communication Skills.
- Applies Principles of Logical Thinking to Define Problems - Collect Data - establish Facts and Draw Valid Conclusions.
- Demonstrates Strong Organisational Skills and Attention to Detail.
- Encourages - Guides and Orients Team Members
